HELLFISH HOCKEY TEAM

While the Hellfish hockey team have only been playing for a year, they are off to a strong start. More importantly they have an excellent team spirit and camaraderie, with the motto of “fun comes first.” The team is sponsored by the Dundarave Fish Market and Simply West Coast, and can often be found having a post game meal at the award winning restaurant in West Vancouver. Team favorites include the scrumptious riptide squid and delicious tuna tataki. For a pre-game energy boost at home, the players love to use Simply West Coast Sauce - Rustic Soya Maple Glaze over chicken or steak.

The team is also excited to announce a new addition, Ryan Gibbons, who was drafted by the Pheonix Coyotes by the Great One himself. With the addition of brand new jerseys, the Hellfish are ready to conquer any opponent that comes their way! Check out game schedules posted on our blog, twitter and facebook.

Simply West Coast Makes Entertaining a Breeze

We had good friends over for dinner this weekend and used 3 of the Simply West Coast sauces. We started with an appetizer of crab and shrimp seasoned in Sun-Soaked Ceviche Marinade, served with taco chips and guacamole. The main was lightly breaded and buttered baked halibut with a dollop of the Classic Tartar Sauce.

We served the halibut with wild rice and a broccoli coleslaw dressed with the new Sassy Sesame Sauce which was an amazing complement! It has a nice jalapeno kick and is super delicious. My friend brought a bottle of the See Ya Later Ranch Chardonnay which was great pairing.

Good work on the sauces. They are a treat to share with friends and the taste experience is always impressive.

I live in a beautiful, small tourist town on the coast and needed a quick and delicious meal for some friends that were staying at our place. I had some fresh prawns that my dad caught so I started some rice and heated a jar of Sinful Coconut Cream Sauce on the stovetop on medium heat to thicken it (stir from time to time).

While everything was cooking, I made a simple green salad and sautéed the prawns in garlic and butter. Once everything was ready to serve, I put the prawns on top of the rice and drizzled the sauce on top and added a couple of lemon wedges as a garnish. This meal was a breeze to make and allowed me to spend more time with my guests and less time in the kitchen. And, everyone loved it... including myself! I would definitely make it again.

Since moving to the West Coast, I've enjoyed some of the freshest salmon on the planet. I've also started serving it at home more and I'm always on the lookout for different ways to prepare it. My latest find is the Rustic Soya Maple Glaze. I love how it is kind of sweet, and salty. My husband and I enjoy cooking and entertaining but also have busy lives. This sauce is easy to use and we'll definitely use it again.

Yum! Some wine pairing ideas:

Our dad, Roy VanSickle, made cocktail sauce for the family at least once a week. It was always spicy and I still crave it to this day. The Swingin' Cocktail Sauce Kim has created is pretty close to the original recipe and works best with a fruity and acidic wine.

Here's a couple to try: A zippy Pinot Grigio from Italy with zesty lemon flavours will provide a perfect pairing with the shrimp and sauce. It's like adding an extra couple of wedges of citrus to the sauce. Or for something really special, the acidic bubblies from Spain called "cavas" would are just about perfect with shrimp and this spicy sauce. The acid cuts through the hot spots in the sauce and match beautifully with the seafood flavours. Try anything from the popular Codorníu family of sparkling wines from Spain. Dad would love the match.
